PLIB offers Heat Treatment (HT) Certification to help wood packaging manufacturers meet ISPM 15 guidelines for solid wood export packaging materials. ISPM 15 guidelines were developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) to help prevent the spread of wood borne pathogens around the world. Certification to meet ISPM guidelines is currently required by more than 50 countries worldwide. Shipments received in wood packaging that does not bear HT Certification stamps can be stopped at the port of entry until further measures (often expensive) are taken to ensure the packaging is free of pathogens.
